What to Expect
Accessing the Camp
Most of our sites are boat access only, meaning you can not drive to them, and would need to take a boat to get there. We do own a piece of property that you can drive to, from there it is a short drive across the bay to the camp sites. You may bring or use kayaks or other small watercraft as well. The sites have docks available for uses for your boats. There are several public water accesses to use on the lake. Many companies in the area also rent boats for use if that is something you are interested in. If you prefer, or do not have a boat, we can also provide a ride to and from your site, but please notify us as soon as possible and preferably at least 72 hours prior to your arrival so we can plan accordingly.
Primitive Camping
Our campsites are primitive, meaning they do not have basic amenities you may have at home such as electricity or running water. This is a true camping experience. We recommend that you bring your own drinking water. All of the camping sites are on the lake, so you will have access to the lake water for swimming and other activities.
We do provide some solar lights and lanterns for lights at night, but if you want access to other electrical items such as a speaker, phone charger, etc. I recommend bringing battery operated items and/or a portable charging device.
We do provide compost toilets that are changed, properly disposed of, and cleaned between customers. There will be instructions upon your arrival on the use of these toilets or any other questions you may have.
Being this is a camping experience in the woods expect to see bugs and other critters in or around your campsite. We recommend that you keep your tent doors closed when not in use to help keep the bugs out. The tent do have screens to allow the fresh air in without letting the bugs and other critters in. Also, decrease the amount of times going in and out of the tent during times when the bugs are the worst. Bug spray is recommended to bring.
There is not heat or air conditioning. Our tents are seasonal and although one day we may be able to offer extended winter camping with a heat source, we do not offer that at this time. That being said please dress accordingly. We do provide extra blankets and comforters on the beds, however, everyone has their own needs when it comes to temperature preferences. Even in the warmer summer days the nights tend to be cooler. It's recommend to bring warmer clothes for those cool nights. Also, in Minnesota the weather is never predictable. We recommend bringing rain gear to keep you dry in the event you need it.
Pets
Pets are welcome, however we do ask to keep them leashed and clean up after them. There will also be a $20 fee that will be applied.
